Baltimore City's best kept secret!

Hi Guys,

I wanted to share the following website with you to showcase the wonderful accomplishments and advances that both students and teachers can attain when standards and expectations are set high. This is a public city school, the students are randomly chosen by lottery, they are primarily african american, and the majority receive free or reduced meals, yet they have consistently outperformed the other 2 top elementary/middle schools for the past 2 years.
So, when people offer negative comments or "scare tactics" about your decision to teach in BC, just remember-- all things are possible for those who believe and strive to achieve.
have a great weekend!

Noraida-

KIPP is a great program! My cousin is on the board for the Nashville KIPP program. He mentioned that the kids there are amazing and he is always so proud of how much they accomplish. I didn't know there was a program here in Baltimore too, thanks for posting!

I have a friend who works as a Science teacher at the Baltimore KIPP school. I dont know if everyone knows this, but the kids do not leave school until about 5pm, and the teachers not until 6 or 7. Also, their summers are about a month shorter... its tough, but obviously has its benefits.
